CMH Lodges & Terrain: An Overview

CMH runs eleven lodges across the interior ranges of British Columbia, and no two are the same. The right one depends on the terrain you want, the vibe you're after, and who you're travelling with. Here's a plain overview of the CMH lodges and terrain to help you get your bearings.

One operator, many mountain ranges

CMH's tenures stretch across the Cariboos, Monashees, Selkirks, and Purcell mountains. Each lodge sits in its own corner of that map with a distinct character: some are known for big glaciers and long alpine descents, others for tree skiing that shines when the weather closes in, and a few for gentler terrain that's ideal for a first trip.

Because the ranges get different weather and snow, there's almost always a lodge skiing well, which is part of why matching you to the right one matters.

Terrain for every level

Some lodges lean steep and fast, built for expert skiers chasing couloirs and big vertical. Others run dedicated first-timer programs on rolling, forgiving terrain where the pace is set for learning. Most sit somewhere in between and can flex to a mixed-ability group, which is common on family and club trips.

The takeaway: there's no single best CMH lodge, only the best one for your group and your goals.

Lodge size and feel

Lodges range from intimate settings of around twenty guests to larger lodges hosting forty or more. Smaller lodges feel private and personal; larger ones bring more energy and more skiing groups. Some are remote fly-in lodges reachable only by helicopter, while others sit near a mountain town. If you're considering a private trip or a full buyout, lodge size is one of the first things we'll talk about.

How I help you choose

I've skied or hiked at all of CMH's lodges, so rather than guessing from a website, you get firsthand perspective on terrain, atmosphere, and which lodge fits your ability, your dates, and the experience you're picturing. Tell me what you have in mind and I'll point you to the right one, and help you secure it before it fills.
