Some lodges lean steep and fast, built for expert skiers chasing couloirs and big vertical. Others run dedicated first-timer programs on rolling, forgiving terrain where the pace is set for learning. Most sit somewhere in between and can flex to a mixed-ability group, which is common on family and club trips.

Lodges range from intimate settings of around twenty guests to larger lodges hosting forty or more. Smaller lodges feel private and personal; larger ones bring more energy and more skiing groups.
