Family Heli-Ski Trips

Heli-skiing can absolutely be a family trip. I help families plan a week that works for different ages, abilities, and interests, all under one roof. It's the ideal family ski trip where everything is taken care of, including meals, activities, and accommodations.

Planning around your family

Families come with a range: strong skiers, building skiers, and sometimes children who aren't ready to heli-ski yet. The right lodge and program make all of that work. I help you choose a trip where everyone has their kind of day, and the evenings are spent together at the lodge.

Skiing with children

CMH can accommodate younger skiers on the designated trips, and Mike Wiegele offers a program where children can cat-ski with guides. The details depend on ages, abilities, and the trip you choose, so this is a conversation worth having early. I'll tell you honestly what's possible for your family and recommend the lodge that fits. Children can also ski for free or at a discount, depending on the family program.

A family story

Anne has been nothing short of excellent in helping my two sons and me book a trip. She reserved on my behalf months ahead, answered every question, and even facilitated a change in dates and trip type. Highly responsive, even on weekends and evenings, well above what I'd expect. She's the absolute best.

Family trip questions, answered.

Can children go heli-skiing?

Yes. Depending on the age, there are a variety of options that accommodate families with minors. Tell me your kids' ages and where they ski, and I'll tell you honestly what's possible.

What if my child is too young or not ready to heli-ski?

There are still good options. Mike Wiegele offers a program where children can cat-ski with guides, so younger or building skiers get their own great days while the rest of the family heli-skis. I'll help you find a trip that works for everyone.

Can a family with mixed abilities ski together?

Yes. Most families have a range, and the right lodge and program are built for exactly that. Everyone gets their kind of day on the mountain, then you regroup at the lodge each evening.

When should we plan a family heli-ski trip?

Holiday weeks and peak dates are the most popular and book up first, so the earlier we talk, the more options you have. If you're aiming for a specific week, reach out early and I'll help you secure it.

Is heli-skiing safe for a family trip?

Safety is built into every CMH trip. You ski with certified guides who match terrain to each group and read conditions all day, trips begin with safety training, and gear is provided. I'm glad to walk you through how it works before you decide.

Ikon Pass

Ikon Pass in the family?

Each Ikon Pass holder (excluding the Session Pass) unlocks real credits at CMH, up to $2,000 CAD for full pass holders, toward your family's trip. I'll confirm what each pass unlocks and apply the credits where they fit, at no added cost.
