You're booked. Here's everything you need before you go.

Your trip is set. This page pulls together the practical details so getting ready is simple. If anything at all comes up, just reach out. I'm with you the whole way.

What to bring, what's provided

  • Boots are the one thing to bring. Pack your own ski or snowboard boots and carry them on in case your luggage is delayed. The lodges keep no spares.
  • Skis are provided. You don't need to bring or reserve skis. If you'd like to see the options by destination, here's CMH's equipment list.
  • Snowboarders, confirm your board. CMH asks to know which board you want in advance so it's ready for your trip. Let me know and I'll arrange it.
  • Safety gear is included. Beacon, shovel, and probe are all provided, so there's no need to bring your own.

Packing and lodge wear

For the full list, see my What to Pack guide. A couple of quick notes:

  • Lodge attire is casual. No dressy clothes needed. Bring flip flops for the spa area.
  • Laundry. There's a washer and dryer at the lodge if you'd like to pack lighter.

Gear you can rent or arrange

  • AFD airbag pack. You can rent a Mammut Removable Airbag 3.0 avalanche flotation device for $40 CAD/day plus tax. If you'd like one and haven't reserved it yet, let me know and I'll arrange it.
  • Pre or post hotel nights. If you want a night near the airport before or after your trip, CMH can book a room at negotiated rates in Kelowna or Kamloops, or you're welcome to book your own. I'll connect you with CMH Guest Services to set it up.

Cameras and heated gear

Two safety rules worth knowing before you pack:

  • GoPro. The chest mount can't be used, since it interferes with the avalanche transceiver. A helmet mount works fine.
  • Heated gear. Heated vests aren't permitted, as they interfere with transceivers. Heated gloves are fine, but bring a non-heated pair to wear while operating your transceiver.

Getting there

You'll fly into Calgary, Kelowna, or Kamloops depending on your lodge, and CMH handles the ground transfer from there. Transportation timing is specific to your lodge, so I'll send the right transportation schedule for your trip.

At the lodge

There's WiFi in the rooms and throughout the building, plus a land line for emergency calls. You can check current conditions at the lodge anytime, and CMH's vertical guarantee explains how down days and missed vertical are handled.
