Purcell & Selkirk ranges

Purcell

Big-mountain day trips from Golden.

About Purcell

Purcell is CMH's day heli-skiing operation, an easy self-drive from Calgary and based out of Golden, BC. There is no overnight lodge; instead you fly out of a day base with a small group, keeping numbers capped for a personal, uncrowded experience.

That compact setup, with two guides for every eight skiers, makes Purcell unusually flexible. Mixed-ability groups can spread across pace and difficulty, so mellow-paced intermediates and fast-charging experts can share the same day and both get exactly the skiing they want.

The terrain

The tenure sprawls across both the Purcell and Selkirk ranges, with more than 250 runs to explore. Expect the full spread: wide-open glaciers, high alpine bowls, gladed subalpine forest, and prime tree skiing threading classic drainages.

The two ranges each bring their own character. The Purcells deliver high-elevation glaciers and bowls with gladed trees below, while the Selkirk side serves broad alpine glaciers, open bowls, and distinctive skiing through naturally burnt timber, all backed by a generous daily vertical.
