Kootenay

Powder-town roots, tree-lined fall lines.

About Kootenay

Based in the mountain town of Nakusp, Kootenay is CMH's in-town operation, set close to Valhalla Provincial Park and the shore of Upper Arrow Lake. This is one of BC's legendary powder pockets, a corner of the province famous for piling up huge volumes of light, dry snow.

The area carries a distinct, free-spirited ski culture. Generations of powder chasers have shaped the local mountain towns into some of the most colourful communities anywhere, and that laid-back energy is part of what makes a trip here feel different from a remote fly-in lodge.

The terrain

Kootenay's tenure reaches across both the Selkirk and Monashee ranges, and the skiing plays like a soft, cushioned playground. Steady fall lines and evenly spaced trees run all the way to the valley floor, giving you room to open it up and find a rhythm run after run.

With so much snow underfoot, the terrain rewards a playful approach. There is plenty of forgiving cover to test small drops and pillow lines, a great fit for confident intermediates through experts who like to session soft landings.
