Cariboos

Tucked into the Cariboo Mountains a short flight west of Jasper, this remote lodge sits within one of CMH's northernmost tenures. Guests reach it by helicopter in under half an hour, trading the outside world for glacier-carved valleys and a quiet retreat with a wine cellar, hot tub, sauna, and chef-cooked meals.

The appeal here is breathing room. With more than 300 skiable options spread across nearly 1,500 square kilometres, groups rarely cross their own tracks. Days blend big alpine descents with relaxed evenings, a natural fit for skiers who want space and variety without a punishing pace.

The tenure leans alpine, roughly 60 percent trees to 40 percent open terrain, with sweeping bowls and gently pitched runs that open up above the treeline. Wide, forgiving lines mean the mountains welcome a broad range of abilities rather than only the boldest riders.

That balance makes the Cariboos a strong choice for first-time heli-skiers and confident intermediates, while stronger skiers still find plenty of steeper alpine and tree lines to keep things interesting.
