Bobbie Burns

Straddling the boundary between the Purcell and Selkirk ranges, Bobbie Burns is CMH's answer for skiers who measure a good day in vertical feet. Guests reach the lodge by coach from Calgary and a short helicopter hop, landing in a sprawling powder reserve of some 1,700 square kilometres.

The lodge draws a certain kind of guest, the sort who wants to ski hard from first light to last. With more than 300 runs on tap and some of the biggest peak-to-valley descents CMH offers, the pace here runs fast and the runs run long.

The tenure splits evenly between towering, well-spaced timber on the Selkirk side and wide-open alpine in the remote Purcells. That balance means there is always somewhere good to ski, whether the sky is clear or the clouds have settled into the trees.

Bobbie Burns is best suited to skiers who like an aggressive tempo. Strong intermediates who can link turns without long breaks will keep up, but the terrain truly favours advanced and expert skiers chasing big, uninterrupted lines to the valley floor.
